Girls Supporting Girls: Glitter Girl x The Hockeyroos

Girls Supporting Girls: Glitter Girl x The Hockeyroos

There’s something incredibly special about seeing Australian women showing up for each other — in sport, in business, and in the everyday moments where confidence and courage are needed most. This is the heart of girls supporting girls, and it’s something we deeply believe in at Glitter Girl.

Recently, we had the absolute joy of supporting the Hockeyroos, Australia’s Women’s National Field Hockey Team. These athletes are strong, dedicated, and proudly represent Australia on the world stage. They’ve inspired generations, especially during their appearances at the Paris Olympics, where so many of us stayed up late cheering from home, holding our breath through every pass and penalty corner.

Their grit, teamwork, and determination made Australia proud — and they continue to lead with the kind of spirit that leaves a mark.

Why This Connection Means So Much

Glitter Girl was founded by Sophia Rizzo, who started the brand at just ten years old. What began with a love of sparkle and imagination has grown into a celebration of creativity, confidence, and joy for girls across Australia and the world.

Sophia’s journey reflects the same values the Hockeyroos live every day:

  • Hard work

  • Leadership

  • Team spirit

  • Pride in who you are

  • Believing in your own potential

One dream started in a bedroom with glitter jars.
The other began on hockey fields across the country.
Both were built by girls who chose to show up with courage.

So when the opportunity came to support the Hockeyroos, it felt like a natural alignment — girls backing girls, with heart and sparkle.

The Glitter Freckles Moment ✨

Last weekend, the Hockeyroos wore Glitter Girl Glitter Freckles on game day — and they absolutely shone.

What made it even more special was how each player styled them in her own way:

  • Some created a subtle shimmer across the cheekbones

  • Others went bold with high-impact sparkle

  • A few added just a hint of twinkle for a quiet confidence glow

It wasn’t about fashion or appearance.
It was about expression, unity, and celebrating who they are as athletes and as women.

The freckles became a tiny symbol of connection — to each other, to the fans, and to something bigger than the game itself.

Women in Sport Deserve the Spotlight

The Hockeyroos are part of a powerful movement of women in sport who are changing what representation looks like.

They show young girls:

  • Strength is beautiful

  • Teamwork makes magic

  • Leadership comes in many forms

  • Sport belongs to girls just as much as boys

  • You can be fierce and feminine at the same time

This is what we stand for too.

Sparkle doesn’t mean fragile.
Sparkle means you shine, even under pressure.

A Celebration, Not a Campaign

This isn’t a sponsorship.
This isn’t a marketing push.

It’s simply girls supporting girls.

We are proud of the Hockeyroos — not just for how they play, but for how they carry themselves, support each other, and inspire others to dream big.

And we’re grateful they chose to wear a bit of Glitter Girl on game day, in their own ways, with their own meaning behind it.

Here’s to the Hockeyroos.

Here’s to athletes who lead with heart.
Here’s to young girls who dream big.
Here’s to the sparkle we make together.

Girls supporting girls — always.
